Week 8 Reflection: February 3, 2025 - February 4, 2025
February 3, 2025: Achievement Test
Chapters Covered: Through the Sandy Expanse, Towards a Gender-Neutral Society, Along the Coast
On February 3rd, I conducted the Achievement Test for the students of 8D and 9D, covering the chapters Through the Sandy Expanse, Towards a Gender-Neutral Society, and Along the Coast. The test had 25-mark questions and lasted 40 minutes. This test was aimed at assessing the students' understanding of the key concepts, such as the geography of deserts, the importance of gender neutrality, and the characteristics of coastal regions.
The students approached the test with seriousness and dedication. While most students demonstrated a good grasp of the material, I noticed that some needed more clarity on specific concepts, such as the gender roles and gender stereotypes discussed in the Towards a Gender-Neutral Society chapter. Overall, I was pleased with their performance, and the exam results will help me determine where to focus my attention on the future lessons.
February 4, 2025: Diagnostic Test & Remedial Class
On February 4th, I conducted a Diagnostic Test to assess the areas where students faced difficulties. After analyzing their responses from the achievement test, I identified topics that needed further explanation and provided additional support through a Remedial Class. I focused on helping students who struggled with certain topics, ensuring that they had a clear understanding before moving on to the next chapter.
As a token of appreciation for the students' hard work throughout the teaching practice, I distributed jaggery sweets to them. It was a gesture to celebrate our time together, as it was also my last day at the school. The students were very happy, and it was a nice way to end my teaching practice at GMGHSS.
Reflection:
This week was an important conclusion to my teaching practice at GMGHSS. The achievement test gave me valuable insights into how well the students understood the topics. It was gratifying to see that many of them were able to recall the key concepts, though some areas needed extra attention.
The diagnostic test and remedial class allowed me to focus on helping individual students who needed more clarification. I’m happy that I was able to assist them and help them strengthen their understanding.
The distribution of jaggery sweets was a heartfelt gesture to express my gratitude to the students for their cooperation and enthusiasm. As my time at the school came to an end, I reflected on the challenges and successes of the teaching practice. I feel more confident in my abilities to design, execute, and assess lessons.
I look forward to applying the experiences and insights I’ve gained in future teaching roles and continuing to grow as an educator.
