BEd journey St. Johns week 1 (05.08.24- 09.08.24) August 09, 2024 Teaching Practice at St. Mary's HSS (August 5 - August 9, 2024) The first week of my teaching practice at st John's has been an enriching experience, both in terms of subject knowledge and teaching methods. Under the guidance of my mentor, Ms. Jacquiline, I had the opportunity to teach the chapter 'Our Government' to my 8A1 class. The topics covered this week were diverse and provided me with a platform to experiment with various teaching strategies to engage the students. August 5th: Organs of Government (Advanced Organiser Model)   I began the week by introducing the Organs of Government using the Advanced Organiser Model. The objective was to provide students with a clear framework of the three main branches of the government: the Legislature, Executive, and Judiciary. BEd journey Day 04 at St. Johns August 08, 2024 As days passes the connection between students and me gets more and more deeper and communications seemed easy. Today i discussed the portion 'procedure of passing a money bill and state legislature. I already prepared a systematic lesson plan and collected contemporary incidents and happenings about the topic. I could complete the topic timely and thus the revision of the topic could be done. Interactive mode of teaching was employed in the class and also i could realize my class management has been better.  Today after the class i got to identify certain requirements for making my class better like working on making class more interactive and interesting. For the day 2 extra duties were assigned which is kitchen duty and noon meal serving duty.  At night i prepared for the next class. Day 03 at St. Johns August 07, 2024  On the 3rd day, periods assigned to me was both 3rd and 6th hour in 8A1 class. As examination is scheduled for next month i was supposed to take portions quickly. Today i could complete very important portion of the chapter 'Our government' which is the various stages of passing a bill in the parliament. I could provide students with better reinforcement. The teaching techniques like repetition of facts, prompting questions was used effectively. I felt that my efficiency in time management has been better than the past 2 days. I reflected my teaching limitations and found out that i can use both negative and positive reinforcement appropriately, Also the need to add more activities in the classroom. Today i did the morning line duty from 8.45am to 9.15am. Then i assisted in the kitchen chores like peeling potatoes and onions.

2nd day at school August 06, 2024  Day 02 at St. Mary's On the 2nd day the school routine started by signing the attendance sheet kept in the office room and then heading to the allotted rest place for student trainees (school auditorium). From the auditorium, the power point presentations and other preparations for today's class. I got to take 2 periods in 8A1, 5th period and 7th period. I tried to improve the drawbacks i found during yesterday's teaching. I took the topic legislature in India.  Today school noon meal serving duty was assigned which i did happily along with my classmates

BEd journey First day at school August 05, 2024  Day 01- First day at School On the first day at school 24 teacher trainees of Mar Theophilus training college, Nalanchira met at the school auditorium, then we headed to the headmistress's office and later to prnincipal's room. After signing the register i headed to meet my assigned teacher Ms. Jacquiline Praseela. On the 5th period i started my teaching journey in 8A1 class.  A total of 4 duties are assigned to the teacher trainees, they are, Morning line duty, kitchen duty, noon meal serving duty and evening line duty. Also, substitution hours released in every morning should be taken responsible by the trainees. It was decided that each day the list of duties and assigned list of trainees would be published.

BEd journey At St. Gorettis - Week 1 (13.11.24- 15.11.24) November 16, 2024  Week 1 Reflection: November 13, 2024 - November 15, 2024 November 13, 2024: What are Deserts?   In the first class of the week, I introduced the topic 'What are Deserts?'. I started by discussing the basic characteristics of deserts, such as arid conditions, low precipitation, and extreme temperature variations. To make it interactive, I used visuals of different deserts around the world, including the Sahara, Kalahari, and Thar Desert. Students were encouraged to share any personal experiences they might have had in hot climates. The class engaged actively, asking questions about the vegetation and wildlife in desert regions. I also discussed the concept of adaptation in desert ecosystems, including plant and animal life. BEd journey At Ar gorettis - Week 2 (18.11.24- 22.11.24) November 22, 2024  Week 2 Reflection: November 18, 2024 - November 22, 2024 November 18, 2024: Geographical Categorization of the Thar Desert   In today’s class, we focused on the geographical categorization of the Thar Desert. I explained how the Thar Desert is divided into different regions based on its topography, climate, and vegetation. We discussed the arid, semi-arid, and hyper-arid zones, and how each zone differs in terms of rainfall, soil, and vegetation. To help students understand, I used a combination of maps and diagrams, and we had a discussion on the regions within the Thar Desert that are suitable for human habitation versus those that are uninhabitable. The students seemed to grasp the concept well, but some struggled with distinguishing between the different categories of aridity. For future lessons, I will continue to reinforce this by using interactive tools like quizzes and diagrams. November 1...
