BEd journey At St. John's week 08 (03.01.25- 04.01.25) February 05, 2025 Week 8 Reflection: February 3, 2025 - February 4, 2025    February 3, 2025: Achievement Test   Chapters Covered: Through the Sandy Expanse, Towards a Gender-Neutral Society, Along the Coast  On February 3rd, I conducted the Achievement Test for the students of 8D and 9D, covering the chapters Through the Sandy Expanse, Towards a Gender-Neutral Society, and Along the Coast. The test had 25-mark questions and lasted 40 minutes. This test was aimed at assessing the students' understanding of the key concepts, such as the geography of deserts, the importance of gender neutrality, and the characteristics of coastal regions. The students approached the test with seriousness and dedication. BEd journey At St. Johns week 7 (27.01.25-31.01.25) January 31, 2025  Week 7 Reflection: January 27, 2025 - January 31, 2025  January 27, 2025: Islands (Advanced Organiser Model)   In today's lesson, I revisited the topic of Islands, using the Advanced Organiser Model to link it with the previous lessons on the coastal plains. We discussed the significance of Islands in India, particularly focusing on their geographical, ecological, and strategic importance. The use of the Advanced Organiser Model helped the students make connections between the coastal regions, islands, and their environmental and cultural relevance. The students seemed engaged as I explained the unique features of India's islands, including their climate, ecosystems, and how they contribute to India's biodiversity. The class was interactive, with students eagerly participating and raising questions about the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. I plan to continue using this model in future ...

We discussed the geographical features, location, and significance of the coastal plains in India. I explained how the coastlines are divided into the Western and Eastern Coastal Plains, and the importance of these areas in terms of agriculture, ports, and biodiversity. The class was particularly engaged during the discussion about how the coastline affects local climates, trade, and the culture of coastal regions. The students actively participated, and many shared their observations of the coastlines they had seen or visited. I introduced the students to the concept of megaliths, explaining how large stone structures were used by ancient civilizations, particularly in the Indian subcontinent, as burial sites and markers for important events. We discussed various types of megalithic monuments, such as dolmens, menhirs, and cairns, and where they have been found. I also emphasized the importance of these monuments as a valuable source of information about ancient cultures. To make the lesson more interactive, I used images of megalithic sites in India and encouraged students to identify the structures. BEd journey St. Mary's week 3 (19.08.24-22.08.24) August 23, 2024  Week 3 Reflection: August 19, 2024 - August 22, 2024 August 19, 2024: High Court and Subordinate Courts   This week began with a lesson on the High Court and Subordinate Courts in India. I introduced the judicial system at the state level and explained the differences between the High Court and the various subordinate courts, such as District Courts and Magistrate Courts. The students were keen to understand the roles these courts play in ensuring justice at the local level. To make this topic more relatable, I used a comparison chart to explain the hierarchical structure of the judiciary. This helped clarify the distinctions between the courts, their functions, and jurisdiction.
